Biography
Between 1979 and 1981, teenagers from Vitry-sur-Seine and Alfortville -- suburbs from the south-east of Paris -- came together to form Collectif Mohamed. Their goals were to be the masters of their own images and to not leave the ghetto's coverage to parisian journalists. The three short films they made are a reflection of their ambitions : capturing their neighborhood, having fun, but also creating a new political narrative by being self-sufficient in telling their own stories. The collective bought their own film, shot in Super-8 with the cameras they borrowed at the school's film club, and edited their images with a teacher.
