Biography

From the South coast of Brazil, Helena Sardinha is a creative producer residing in Los Angeles. Her projects have gained recognition and screened at festivals such as Sundance, Tribeca, Aspen Shortfest, Palms Springs Shortfest, Outfest and Fantastic Fest. In 2018, alongside Rafael Thomaseto, she co-founded Driven Equation, a boutique production company located between Los Angeles and São Paulo. Helena Sardinha participated in the Latine-focused Warner Media fellowship "TFT", and her latest short, The Ballad of Tita and the Machines, premiered at Tribeca 2023. The project will also have a theatrical window of distribution, where the short will play in selected theaters paired with the features Joy Ride and Blue Beetle. Sardinha is in the festival run for Beautiful, FL, a project part of the Disney Launchpad program, set to premiere on Disney+ during the Fall. Following the success of the short Huella (Sundance, Short of the Week), Helena is under development for its feature length, in association with 271 Films. Helena Sardinha is a 2022 Dear Producer fellow and a 2022 Sundance Producing Lab fellow. She is also a lead producer of Angel in Retrograde, a finalist film for the 2023 AT&T Untold Stories in Tribeca. Besides producing, Helena is a filmmaking educator and a recurring faculty member at the Sitka Fine Arts Camp in Alaska.
