Tombo Hayashi is an ordinary boy. There's nothing he likes more than watching TV all day after a long day at school. However, the one at his house only has eight channels, and he can't stand watching the same thing again and again. He asks his parents to purchase the brand new model, but they refuse. Frustrated, Tombo decides to smash the current TV to pieces to force his parents to buy a new one. However, just as he's about to, the spirit of the TV rises. It turns out that a Yōkai named Telemonja had taken up residence inside the TV. He lectures the boy for rendering him without a home and says that until he finds a new one, he'll stay with the family.
